Winooski School Board bows to community pressure, keeps teachers

The Winooski School Board voted to reverse course and keep the jobs of two Winooski teachers during their meeting Monday. Will Andrews, a social studies and iLabs teacher, and Jeff Duggan, a math teacher, were slated to lose their jobs by March 30 due to staffing cuts.

Vermont AG files suit against telemarketer company who harassed state legislators

Attorney General T.J. Donovan announced Thursday his office filed a civil suit against Karabell Industries and its owner, Eli Karabell. The suit alleges the company made illegal telemarketing calls to state legislators and harassing them to pay Karabell large sums of money.

Lawmakers hear clean heat standard to create ‘winners’ and ‘losers’

DPS planning director: ‘We really don’t know’ impact of clean heat standard on businesses and families

The planning director for the Vermont Department of Public Service told the Senate Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday that while some estimates can be made, officials ultimately don’t know the impact a clean heat standard will have on Vermonters.

Roper: Clean heat standard moves to Senate — will Gov. Scott veto?

The good news is that the administration seems to be laying the groundwork for a potential veto of the clean heat standard if it doesn’t contain a second vote threshold. The bad news is, many members of the Scott administration have been advocates for the CHS.
