Delays on town forest draw debate in Richmond

Nearly 430 acres of town forestland here remains closed to the public almost five years after a local family sold the property for people to enjoy. And a spat between selectboard members and the committee responsible for the land brought the Andrews Community Forest’s sluggish management to the forefront last month.

Blue wave hits Vermont, but Scott to continue to lead state

Democrats rode a blue wave on Tuesday as Republican Gov. Phil Scott will be paired with Progressive Democratic Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman, and Democratic candidate Mike Pieciak will be the state’s new treasurer. Sarah Copeland Hanzas, also a Democrat, won the secretary of state post, while Charity Clark, a Democrat, will serve as the state’s new attorney general.

Rural development restrictions draw debate in Hinesburg

Hinesburg landowners have clashed with town planners over proposed zoning changes that, to prioritize forest conservation, would more strictly govern land use across a large stretch of town. “That’s not what my vision is for my property,” resident Tony St. Hilaire told the Hinesburg Planning Commission.
