State Headliners: Vermont joins regional plan for ‘pricing mechanism’ to reduce transportation carbon emissions

The Transportation and Climate Initiative “would require fuel distributors to buy pollution permits for some of the carbon they produce,” the Boston Globe reported Wednesday. If so, Vermont drivers would pay more at the gas pump. In effect, it would be a carbon tax.
