Ericka Redic, a Republican candidate for the United States House, will march in the Independence Day Parades in Brandon on July 2, Montpelier on July 3, and Colchester on July 4. Redic will also march in Lyndonville’s “Stars and Stripes” parade on July 16.
“VISA is committed to working with the legislature to support passage of a law requiring all schools receiving public funds to comply with a nondiscrimination law,” said VISA Executive Director Mill Moore.
“I know many Vermonters like me are deeply disappointed following today’s decision by the Supreme Court, as this decision rolls back a federal right that women have had for decades. It’s Important to note, a woman’s right to choose is a principle we will uphold in Vermont.”
Act 47 of 2019, which guarantees a woman’s right to choose an abortion, was the law of the land in Vermont before Dobbs, and it will be the law of the land after Dobbs.
Today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision changes the legality of abortion in our state. Passage of H. 57, now Act 47, is clear statutory protection of unlimited and unregulated abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
With the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, they acknowledge that abortion is not a constitutionally-protected right. The issue will now be decided by the people and the elected officials in their respective states.

Today Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos announced Friday, June 24 as the official start of early voting for the Vermont Statewide Primary Election, to be held on Tuesday, August 9. To vote early in the August Primaries voters must request a ballot.
