John Klar: Destroying American jurisprudence — replacing ‘mens rea’ with ‘men racist’

America’s criminal jurisprudence presumes innocence until guilt is proved. In proving that guilt, most crimes require proof of “mens rea” — an intent to commit the crime. In recent years this concept is being reversed by social justice warriors.

McClaughry: Rethinking the climate ‘crisis’

News media has delivered a continual tsunami of alarming reports: “Climate change is already ravaging the world,” “climate change-induced disasters,” “climate crisis,” “climate emergency.” Could we calm down a minute and get a grip on this subject?

Keelan: The ‘unifier’ Biden has not been unifying

For starters, the bedrock premise of the Biden administration was to unite the country as well as our allies. Unfortunately, we are now a more divided country, and our allies are even more suspicious of our support.

John Klar: The rise of far left hate speech

Hate speech is on the rise in America — by those on the political left. Invoking allegations of far-right extremism as grounds to assault people, and to dismantle free speech protections for “hate speech,” many on today’s left are expressing hate.

Flemming: Fundamentally flawed climate plan for Vermont forests

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Vermont Climate Council will have to choose between a clearly inferior climate plan product by the Dec. 1 deadline, or spending more time and taxpayer dollars trying to correct the current climate plan’s flaws.

Roper: Unintended consequences of climate plan coming clear

The Climate Council’s job is to figure out how to reduce Vermont’s greenhouse gas emissions to mandated levels set out in the Global Warming Solutions Act. Period. That’s all. They are not concerned with the fallout — economic and otherwise — that will occur if we do all the things necessary to meet that goal.

John Klar: So Elizabeth Warren is now trying to censor science — and it’s backfiring

But while she might have gotten away with race-shifting, her attempt to silence free speech is such a disgraceful effort to dominate Americans with the lying propaganda she and her buddy Biden spout, that her only hope was that her victims would not challenge her despotism. They have.

McClaughry: Socialism’s descent in Cuba

Bad news, Bernie. Your darling Cuba is a police state poorhouse, a total socialist failure.

Republican Party message on Veterans Day

Today we celebrate Veterans Day and all the men and women in Vermont, across the country, and even those still stationed in U.S. Bases around the globe. Incredible, decades-long sacrifices have been made by them individually, and also by their families.

On Veterans Day, let us honor those who served and those who stood by them

On this Nov. 11, take a moment to share your gratitude for the life and the service of our veterans. And then take one more moment to thank the ones standing next to them for the incredible sacrifices they have made while in the shadow of another.

John Klar: Social justice inflation — Is that the plan?

Increasingly this irresponsible money-dumping appears to be a deliberate effort to transfer wealth and expand government power, consistent with the Social Justice ideology embraced by extremist Joe Biden.

Stan Greer: Virginia votes against government union bosses

A wide array of political observers agreed McAuliffe’s single greatest liability was voters’ perception that, in all disputes pitting concerned parents and their kids against union bosses and union boss-backed school officials, the aspiring two-time governor would invariably side with Big Labor.
