Letter: Repeal the Global Warming Solutions Act, and clean house in Montpelier

The only thing that will help at this point in time is a massive house cleaning in Montpelier, and repeal of the GWSA by the Legislature in January 2023.

Keelan: 500 columns, with emphasis on Bernie, EB-5 scandal, nonprofits, and more

Bernie has been a favorite since day one. How can he not be? He is divisive and the “poster person” for why we have a significant issue with the lack of civil discourse in Vermont and America.

Paul Dame: Chance of tax audit could go up 100% if Biden doubles IRS

President Joe Biden and the Democrats are proposing to double the size of the IRS by adding over 86,000 agents, most of whom will be assigned to enforcement. If this bill passes the Senate every American could see their chance of an audit go up.

John Klar: ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ will throw fuel on the flames of stagflation

The folly of the Biden administration’s recently announced “Inflation Reduction Act” recalls Orwellian slogans such as “Slavery is Freedom.” The plan will throw fuel on the flames of stagflation while accelerating environmental deterioration.

Opinion: Bernie Sanders calls a spade a spade on Congress’ massive chipmaker bill

In the Senate, 17 Republicans inexplicably voted for this transgression against taxpayers. In the House, 24 Republicans voted for it. Only one non-Republican Member of Congress — Sen. Bernie Sanders — voted against it.

Angwin: How will New England handle loss of 5000 MW of reliable power plants?

More than 5000 MW of reliable plants have closed in New England since 2013. Meanwhile, 3000 MW of dual-fuel plants have been added. But can the dual-fired plants get fuel without a Winter Reliability Program? Or is this just more dependency on Just-In-Time natural gas?

John Klar: The many enemies of school choice, parental rights in Vermont

Steve MacDonald: Burlington Police chief lacks manpower to investigate murder-suicide

We’ve been charting the Democrat decline of Burlington, Vermont, for a few years, and it is swirling the bowl as predicted. Property crime has been rising, and now gun crime is becoming a problem, but the local police department lacks resources. Can you guess why?

Letter: Scott a total failure for the GOP and for Vermont

He has been such an impediment to the GOP, but people couldn’t see that. Of course he couldn’t champion conservative values and ideas, being a progressive.

Flemming: Vermont developers prioritize housing with fossil fuel heating over climate concerns

For now at least, developers have the option to choose fossil fuels over “green” heating systems that don’t work in cold weather. That could change if Vermont adopts something close to the Clean Heat Standard in 2023.

Op-Ed: Recession denial by White House and Federal Reserve will plunge America into stagflation

It is likely the Biden administration is pushing the idea that America is not in a recession to salvage a modicum of political viability, with congressional mid-terms quickly approaching. Unfortunately, the casualties of this naked political posturing will be American citizens’ wallets.
