Opinion: Why Article 22 should be defeated

The term “personal reproductive autonomy” is not defined anywhere in Vermont or American jurisprudence. It is a term invented for this proposed amendment — even the sponsors of the amendment admit that they do not know what the term means.

Stan Greer: Instead of an apology, parents need better education-labor policy

The keys to stopping union bosses from holding children’s education hostage to their self-serving demands are the repeal of every state law authorizing Big Labor to speak for all government-school educators on matters concerning their pay, benefits and work rules.

Letter: Are we a nation divided, or a nation manipulated?

Until we create an accurate and collective awareness of how division is engineered, nothing will free us from a captured state of indentured manipulation.

Letter: Opponents don’t know where money comes from

Once again, my Democrat and “Republican” opponents demonstrate they have no idea how the economy, taxes or debt work. Exposing their Progressive leanings, both seem to believe that more money from the federal government is the solution to all our woes.

Letter: Article 22 is ‘bad governance,’ serves neither pro-choice nor pro-life constituents

Making “personal reproductive autonomy” a right for every individual — men, women, and children — undermines women’s access to safe, on-demand abortion and undermines parents’ authority to direct their children in reproductive matters free from state interference.

McClaughry: Vermont cannabis subsidies

The further Vermont goes down the road to legalized state-controlled marijuana marketing, the more interesting surprises come to the surface.

Flemming: California emission goals lead to blackouts — could Vermont be next?

After witnessing how Vermont took inspiration from California for the GWSA, it seems likely that Vermont’s Legislature could accelerate its emissions mandate at a similar pace. Which means more money from Vermonters pockets spent on fueling their cars and heating their homes.

Paul Dame: Poll shows Vermonter Republicans are putting the voters’ priorities first

Vermonter Republicans are putting the voters’ priorities first — not our party’s. This poll indicates voters are starting to see that and are supporting Vermont Republicans at an increasing rate.

Letter: Do Dems really believe there is a ‘climate crisis’?

Why aren’t our political leaders leading by example if in fact they believe there is a climate crisis? John Kerry’s private jet has produced 300 tons of CO2. The kicker for me was Joe Biden flying to Massachusetts and Jill Biden flying to Connecticut so he could deliver a speech about the climate crisis.

John Klar: Net metering is regressive

Taking money from the poor to fund the rich is not “progressive” but “regressive” — it is a form of reverse-Robin-Hood wealth theft, siphoning off retirees’ bank accounts at the gas pump, oil tank filling, and electric rate payments.

Paul Dame: Greatness in the wake of tragedy on 9/11

We will not be able to prevent every tragedy from coming our way — but part of the story of 9/11 is that Americans are well suited to make sure that no tragedy continues to stand in our way indefinitely.

Gerald Malloy for U.S. Senate

Gerald Malloy: My pledge to Vermonters as their U.S. senator

I am a Vermont citizen and I understand the frustration and disappointment of so many Vermonters who have tried to reach out to Leahy, Sanders or Welch about an issue, concern, or general desire, only to be discouraged.
