You may have missed it, but a recent Census Bureau report revealed that the bureau made significant errors in the most recent census, overcounting the population of eight states and undercounting the population of six states.
Today I read an article in The Atlantic titled “Let’s Declare a Pandemic Amnesty.” Central to the piece is a plea to let bygones be bygones, forgive and forget because everyone involved in the pandemic response was working in everybody’s best interests. I use that stuff to fertilize the garden.

The left is looking for ways to shift the country’s politics by fundamentally changing who can vote. Even the Washington Post concedes that “progressives hope that reshaping the electorate will allow them to reshape local politics, prodding [D.C.] further to the left on issues.”
I have long been a firm believer that effective democracy requires an informed electorate advising candidates as to what’s important to them and what should be done or not done about it. I am disappointed by the unwillingness of today’s candidates to engage with voters on the really important issues.
With interest rates at 7.6% and climbing, construction costs at record levels, and construction labor in short supply, it is not the time to build. It is, however, time for towns and villages to plan and acquire housing sites with zoning and all approvals in place.
There is one word in this article that every Vermonter should shudder at, whether you are pro-life or pro-choice. I’m calling it the legislative sleeper cell. The word is “unless.”

The NPR story describes the opening of a late-term abortion providing clinic following the passage of new laws by that state’s legislature expanding access to such abortions, even after the unborn child is able to survive outside the womb.
As renowned climate alarmist David Wallace-Wells writes, the “worst-case temperature scenarios that recently seemed plausible now look much less so, which is inarguably good news and … a truly underappreciated sign of genuine and world-shaping progress.” In other words, the apocalypse is canceled.
As far-left agitators such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bill Gates badmouth cow farts and push to eliminate meat from the American diet, Chesterton’s adage comes to mind — those who kick at cows have an upside-down understanding of the world.
