J Christian Adams: Nevada’s vote by mail system is a total disaster

2020 was the first time Nevada’s elections were conducted by mass vote by mail. 2020 should have been the last time Nevada relied on the United States Post Office to run an election.

Gov. Phil Scott: Vermonters called for balance and we all need to listen

Vermonters want us to work together. They want balance and moderation. They made that clear when electing me with about 70% of the vote and Democratic ‘super-majorities’ in the Legislature. This type of thoughtful, balanced government is what gets the best results.

Tom Evslin: Scott’s reelection suggests Vermonters want some balance

At the same time that Vermonters gave Gov. Phil Scott his huge victory, they also increased the Democratic and Progressive majority in the House of Representatives and maintained an overwhelming left-leaning Senate majority.

Lindberg: Prop 2 banning slavery is little more than lip service

Voting to add language that outlaws a practice that has been outlawed for nearly three centuries asks nothing of us. How many of those who championed Prop 2 are willing to accept the ecological and human rights travetsies that lay in the wake of EV manfacturing?

Vermont has its highest homicide rate in three decades – Democrat rule will do that

With the economic pressures, the holidays, and the ongoing inevitable failure of progressive government, will Vermont find a way to get past 21 homicides in 2022? I hope not for the sake of Vermonters, but I will go with yes.

VT Chamber: Election results indicate costly legislative session ahead

The Vermont Chamber advocacy team anticipates efforts to re-introduce a paid family leave program, the Clean Heat Standard, and expansions of Act 250, as well as the potential for universal childcare, universal school meals, and moving to an income-based education funding legislation.

On Veterans Day, reflect on why America is worth fighting for

On Veterans Day, it’s important that we remember and honor those who have given so much for us. A powerful way to express our gratitude for their sacrifice is to emulate the values we cherish in our veterans community by exercising our rights and participating in the enrichment of our society.

Flemming: Maine’s property tax freeze for seniors — What about Vermont?

Permanent Maine residents 65 or older who have owned a home for at least 10 years may apply through their towns to have their property taxes frozen at their current level. One wonders what the fiscal impact to Vermonters of such a policy would be.

Opinion: How Americans can serve those who served

A staggering 86% of veterans have said that finding a career path is one of their biggest challenges when exiting the Armed Forces. Veterans also cited a lack of feedback from hiring managers and translating military skills into the private sector as obstacles.

Opinion: With Republicans poised to lead the U.S. House, a key opportunity to reverse Dems’ insanity emerges

With America First candidates from states like in Michigan, California, New Jersey and Florida picking up seats, conservatives must not squander their goodwill from voters and instead immediately enact an economic agenda to reverse course away from the crushing policies that pushed record inflation on American families.

Northeast Republicans to waiter: ‘Um, excuse me, this doesn’t look right. I ordered the red wave’

If you looked at the political makeup of New Hampshire yesterday and compared it to today, not a heck of a lot changed. The federal picture is the same. Democrats Maggie Hassan, Chris Pappas, and Ann Kuster are heading back to D.C. to continue damaging the state and the nation. I’m sure they’ll say Democracy was saved.
