Vermont seeks to ban paramilitary training camps

A new Vermont bill seeks to ban so-called paramilitary training camps. The proposed bill implicates more than just gun rights; it squarely attacks the First Amendment rights of free speech and peaceful assembly.

Alison Despathy: Affordable Heating Act is an attack on Vermont businesses

Although there may be good intentions and hopes behind S.5, it is actually harmful to Vermonters and small businesses who have been heating homes for decades, even generations.

Opinion: Senator Baruth deems parents hostile without a day in court

Government should have no authority to deem parents hostile and strip them of their rights and responsibilities regarding their children’s reproductive experiences outside of a court. Children are being permanently harmed by gender ideology activism.

McClaughry: Weatherization savings without taxpayer money

I don’t know why the taxpayers should be hit up for the $9 million, but overall this is a very responsible program. With the help of the utility, it uses savings from lower energy bills to finance the efficiency improvements that produced the savings.

McClaughry: My thoughts on Gov. Scott’s inaugural address

I was particularly interested in the governor’s comments on addressing climate change, especially because he is facing a Legislature firmly under control of the Vermont Climate Council super-government.

Chris Bradley: Self defense in Vermont

Given that we cannot seem to stop bad guys from getting guns, and we have certainly tried hard at that goal, I suggest that enacting laws that force good guys to be disarmed is simply providing for more easy victims.

Paul Dame: Democrat steamrollers at the Statehouse

Vermont Democrats are slowly establishing the kind of heavy-handed authoritarian approach to governing that should leave Vermonters worried that Montpelier is beginning to look more like Washington than we would like.

Tom Evslin: Energy superabundance is within our reach

My hope is that 2023 will be the year when the quest for superabundant energy and all its benefits replaces climate hysteria as a driver of public policy and private investment. We’d get a long way along the path if we fix our “build nothing never” permitting process.

Opinion: U.S. Congress proves it’s a rigged, uniparty dictatorship

Sadly, what this shows today is we don’t have a democracy or a republic, except for 20 people sent to Congress. This is plain for all to see — our elections are rigged, our government in Washington, D.C., is clearly rigged.

“We have ensured accessible, free, fair, and secure election processes while protecting and expanding Vermonters constitutional right to vote.”

Steve MacDonald: New research proves almost no one was in grave danger from COVID-19

A pile of global data has been crunched that proves the fearmongers wrong. Almost no one was in grave danger from COVID-19.
