Moore: Long-awaited Taylor Street project has begun in Montpelier

This is clearly a win-win-win scenario. Montpelier gets a 26 percent needed increase in parking in the downtown, the hotel will generate additional economic activity for the area, and residents will see no increase to their property taxes.

Time to pull the plug on electric vehicle handouts for the rich

Promoted as a way to wean Americans off their alleged addiction to oil, both federal and state governments have generous handouts for electric vehicles. Consumers can use up to $7,500 of other peoples’ money to buy an electric vehicle.

Frenier: Why women should support Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation

Through the callous political game-playing of the U.S. Senate Democrats, our entire nation has been thrown into an unnecessarily hurtful debate that pits men against women and liberals against conservatives. I condemn these despicable tactics and encourage women to reject them.

Advocates of single-payer health care — like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., with his “Medicare for All” legislation — suggest Americans would enjoy a health care utopia if only the government took over. But claims of lower costs and better, more efficient care are widely overblown.

Taxpayers are subsidizing golf courses and baseball fields — it’s time to end that

The federal government should not be in the business of accruing more land, nor should it be spending taxpayer dollars on projects that are local in nature, such as golf courses and Little League baseball fields.
