John Klar: Why I’m joining the NRA
S.22 is an insult to our Vermont way of life and an attack on our constitutional liberties. I weary of such tactics, and so I’m going to pay dues to the NRA for the first time since 1975.

We women are in a power crisis right now over abortion. We are so focused on ourselves as victims that we are blind to the fact that, in this situation, we are the oppressors.
The Post and other media outlets reported that Sandmann and his classmates were bullying Native American activist Nathan Phillips, based on a partial video clip. However, other media widely reported on the full video that demonstrated that wasn’t the case.
Kudos to the Vermont Senate for passing a bill requiring that Senate districts “shall have a maximum of three members.”
Ultimately, a universal early education and care program is unlikely to boost educational outcomes, may not reflect the preferences of families, and will cost taxpayers billions over time. This is the wrong way to help America’s kids.

Law enforcement has become increasingly reliant and aggressive toward ordinary citizens in using asset forfeiture to fund its operations. For 14 years, the Cato Institute ranked Vermont around No. 10 among the 50 states for asset protection. But we’ve recently dropped to No. 15.
I rate VTDigger’s article by Colin Meyn as deliberately misleading. The bishop did not state that such abortion procedures were performed — he stated that they were legal, which they most evidently are. But Mr. Meyn’s straw man has caught fire — it appears from his own data that such procedures likely are performed here in Vermont, electively.
Congressional liberals in their “Medicare for All” bills would outlaw virtually all private health insurance, including job-based health coverage. In short, they would deny the right to enroll in any alternative to the government plan.
Gov. Phil Scott and some key legislative leaders indicated a willingness to reform Vermont’s estate tax, raising the exemption from $2.75 million to $5.75 million. This is a good step. An even better step would be to eliminate the estate tax all together.
The crowning dream of Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown’s last term as governor was the great bullet train to whisk Californians from Los Angeles to San Francisco in under three hours.
Edward T. Hall’s “The Hidden Dimension” was first published more than 50 years ago and deserves a reading by today’s thoughtful people too — perhaps now more than ever before.
