The power and autonomy that is in H.688 and is to be granted to the Vermont Climate Council is unprecedented. The council and its subcommittees will reach into every Vermont home, farm, business, government and nonprofit entity.
Instead of taking on the herculean task of remodeling our schools over the next five weeks in what will no doubt result in an epic fail for all, Vermonters need to seize local control, bolster courage in their superintendents, and demand our schools reopen to a normal school experience.
There is nothing random or spontaneous about the “peaceful protests” we see on the nightly news. None of the riots that incite violence, looting and vandalism are “our youth expressing their frustration.”
School choice vouchers must be expanded to give all parents the ability to fulfill their hope to send their child to the best school possible. Let competition reign. Redirect our tax money to a vital and exciting new educational paradigm. Just imagine it.

The Pledge of Allegiance was tossed into the wastebasket of history this week by the Windsor Selectboard. Board members say there can be no “liberty and justice for all” until “black lives matter.” So they’ve stopped saying the pledge.
“Vermont is probably in a better position to return to school than any other state. … While this pandemic has created countless challenges, we owe it to our kids and their parents to provide them with the best possible education.”
The evidence suggests that full lockdowns, such as those implemented in Italy and Norway, are not as effective as the more targeted approaches taken in other countries, such as in South Korea and Iceland.
Their policy of provocation is cold-blooded, cynical and deceptive. Get some unprepared schlub to blurt out statements on camera, convince the public that everyone who supports the police is just like this Bad Guy, and create division. It’s a ploy.
Do we really need yet another big government program sucking hard-earned cash out of our paychecks? Like a fish needs a bicycle!
