Bucknam: GOP witnessing ‘over-the-top enthusiasm’ from Vermonters sick of ‘radical authoritarianism’

Vermonters have always been a tolerant and “live and let live” bunch, but the left has decided Vermonters — except themselves — are ignorant, childish, and in need of care and supervision.

Flemming: Vermont Legislature paints bleak picture with cherry-picked COVID race data

Blacks make up 1.4% of Vermonters and 0.8% of all Vermont Covid deaths (2 total). 94.2% of Vermont is white, but white Vermonters make up 96.1% of Covid deaths. Yes, black Vermonters are more likely to contract Covid, but nearly half as likely as whites to die from Covid if they do.

Tom Licata: ‘Dear Democrats and Progressives …’

For 60 years you championed “non-traditional’’ families and proposed child care from the government as its replacement, derided two-parent families, opposed school choice, opposed self-reliance and loved your drugs.

McClaughry: How scientists let us down on COVID

But also of interest is Wade’s analysis of how the virology community and the mainstream media failed to raise awkward questions about the official stories of COVID’s origins.

Critical race theory a new history curriculum or anti-American propaganda?

The vile, ahistorical teachings of critical race theory should be consigned to the ashbin of history, not taught in schools. Like other forms of Marxism, critical race theory teaches young minds to see the world as divided into two categories: oppressors and their victims.

Fact Check: Condos’ defense of S.15 riddled with falsehoods and inaccuracies

While under S.15 voting would be very accessible, it would not be at all secure. We should therefore go back to the drawing board and come up with a plan that actually reflects this goal — truly accessible and secure elections.

Condos claims Vermont’s elections ‘are safe and secure’

The claim that mailing a ballot to every active, registered voter will make our election system less secure is grounded in the same unfounded logic, yet the same trumped up voter fraud fearmongering is being used to try and stop S.15.

Campaign for Vermont: Leaders admit to missing the boat on pensions

House leadership admitted last week that if we had followed the recommendations from 12 years ago our pension funds wouldn’t be in the shape they are today. A number of other pieces of legislation, including ethics, broadband, and economic development also moved forward last week.

John Klar: Senator uses nonsense and lies to undermine Vermonters’ liberties

When science is fabricated to advance a bizarre dogma to intimidate others by violating clearly-established constitutional liberties, Vermonters should be troubled. When this is done by an elected official with a law degree, Vermonters should be livid.

McClaughry: Three lawsuits that will change Vermont education

In three lawsuits currently in process, plaintiff parents ask that public funds follow their children to the school of their choice. The impetus for those suits was the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the landmark case of Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, announced last June.

Deb Billado: Biden, the crisis president

Is this building back better? To modify a quote from President Reagan, are you better off than you were six months ago? Is life more affordable? Do you feel safer?

McClaughry: President Biden’s surprising admission

He’s absolutely right, of course — China’s enormous greenhouse gas emissions mean that America’s urgent and costly reductions simply won’t matter.
