Bernie Sanders to ‘assess’ his campaign after another round of primary losses

By Chuck Ross

Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders is going to “assess his campaign” over the next few weeks, his campaign manager said Wednesday, after losing three more primaries that further narrowed the Vermont senator’s path to winning the Democratic presidential nomination.

“Sen. Sanders is going to be having conversations with supporters to assess his campaign,” Faiz Shakir, the Sanders campaign manager, said in a statement, according to The Washington Post. “In the immediate term, however, he is focused on the government response to the coronavirus outbreak and ensuring that we take care of working people and the most vulnerable.”

Pressure was already building before Tuesday’s primaries for Sanders to drop out of the race. Former Vice President Joe Biden won decisively in key states on Super Tuesday, and performed better than expected in the states that Sanders did win.

Biden scooped up key endorsements from contenders who dropped out of the race, including former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg, former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar.

Biden maintained his momentum in primaries Tuesday in Florida, Illinois and Arizona. He won by nearly 40 points over Sanders in Florida and by more than 20 points in Illinois.

According to CNN, Biden is leading Sanders 1,086 to 722 in terms of delegates. Biden needs to win 47% of the remaining delegates in order to reach the 1,991 needed to win the Democratic nomination. Sanders would need nearly 58%, which CNN reports is mathematically possible, though unlikely.

  1. From frontrunner to spectacular fall – another epic fail. Hopefully the smart ppl of VT will prevail and vote this jacka*s out of office forcing the sale of Washington estate, private jet and a stake through the heart of Bolshevick Jane and sidekick Bernies illegal billionire-class front group – vanity project ‘Our Revolution’ with investigation to follow, licking wounds from lakeside ‘camp’ rocking chairs.

  2. We need to recognize that Bernie’s Campaign is not just to elect Bernie President. It’s a campaign to advance the goals of The (socialist) Movement, and if Bernie can’t be nominated, he’ll use the millions in his war chest to advance The Movement: elect progressive candidates, platform planks, community organizing, unionization, college debt forgiveness, Medicare for All. This “struggle” has been under way for a hundred years (in the US), and Bernie, in the footsteps of Gene Debs and Norman Thomas, is now its paymaster.

Correcto mundo John and burnee’s training the new kids on the block AOC and her entourage
of America haters to carry the torch maybe after this run which is failing miserably compared to
to his last run..I think after seeing the economy we CAN have under Trump most people don’t
like the idea of a Venezuelan economy under burnee….

  3. Read an interesting thought as to why many the Bernie followers in 2016 are no longer on board is that they are 4 years older and much wiser.

  4. booinee might not get a another house in this rundown as he’s getting run out of the ball park
by the brain dead pro swamp critter corrupto joe..if booinees not a threat he gets no buy out..

  5. Bernie Sanders to ‘assess’ his campaign after another round of primary losses,
what will it take before this fool figures out that he’s not a DEMOCRAT and the
DNC will not give him the nod !!

One would think after he took a beating from Cankles Clinton in 2016, and now
taking a beating from Sleepy Joe he’d go off into the sunset.

If Vermont’s Socialist really believes in his rhetoric then he would be running under
his Vermont banner ( I) Independent or as a socialist the agenda he promotes.

Wake up Vermont we deserve better, Sanders spewing his socialist rhetoric and
living a capitalist live style, hypocrite or a fool.
