U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont announced Wednesday that he will suspend his campaign for the Democratic bid for president.

“I have concluded that this battle for the Democratic nomination will not be possible,” Sanders said.

Sanders congratulated his sole remaining rival for the nomination, former Vice President Joe Biden, and said he would work with him in the race as well as remain on the ballot in states that have yet to have their primary elections.

Sanders’ campaign had been on the ropes since failing to win key states on Super Tuesday. Biden, meanwhile, continued to gain momentum, winning Michigan and Florida.

Biden, responding to questions about Sanders’ future in the race, told the Today Show on Tuesday that the Vermont senator had a significant impact on the race but seemed to rule him out as a potential running mate.

“If I’m the nominee, I can tell you one thing, I would very much want Bernie to be a part of the journey,” Biden said. “Not as a vice presidential nominee, but engaging in all the things that he’s worked so hard to do, many of which I agree with.”

The 78-year-old independent was also dogged by health questions after suffering a heart attack last fall.

  1. Vermont should add an amendment to its Constitution that specifies no one can run for a statewide office unless they have been born in Vermont.

  2. That’s no loss. Bernie is Bernie. Now if he’d resign from the Senate, he’d really be doing a public service!!!

  3. Socialist Sanders may have suspended his campaign but he’s far from done,
well he’s done, but not in his mind, he loves getting kicked when he’s down
    and he’s down a lot !!

He will keep spewing his ” rhetoric ” and he’ll try to promise ” Sleepy Joe ” that
if he ” DNC ” supports some of his ” nonsense policies “, his supporters will vote
for Joe……………… More BS from the artist……….

Vermont should hang its head in shame, having him as our Senator……Pathetic !!

  4. Hey Bernie accomplished what Bernie wanted. It’s money. Those $100 bills floated to him faster that a hurricane wind driven rain. A few more houses, cars, travel, the good life, easy street. He proved there’s a sucker born every minute. He’s proved there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, he’s the pot. Sure sold a lot of snake oil.

I doubt he’ll represent VT, hasn’t done so for 8+ years now. Reminds me of the song “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”.

  5. The bad news for Vermont is that we definitely do not need a Communist senator, but we’ve got him for a few more years. More years of listening to him spout his socialist drivel on how to run the United States and doing absolutely nothing for the State of Vermont.

  6. Thankfully, none of us should ever again have to suffer through this self-aggrandizing, senile old communist running for the highest office in our land.

  7. oh boohoohoo burnee…so sad and really not bad…your communistic socialism only sells to
to brain damaged youts…not freedom loving Americans…

    • greta the grinch should give you a big

how dare you for spewing all the unneeded co2 into the atmospherew for pushing
a antiAmerica agenda that no one wants, at least the thinking portion of the populace .

  8. I could have saved the Communist curmudgeon the time and effort to fail again, that this would be the result ,so much for all his education if he couldn’t see it also. Now if only Vermonters would wake up and smell the truth of the Burnmeister and his beloved Communism.

  9. This is good news for America we do not need a Communist president.

The Only thing that Could surpass this now is for Bernie to grab his two socialist buddies, Peter Welch and Patrick Leahy and get them all out of politics.

    • Bear in mind, politics is a game, to stay in office you have to constantly stay in the public’s eye and give them tid bits of a little substance (money) wherein the sheeple google and gaw over what he did for them.

He pulled $1.5 billion out of the $2.2 Trillion bill supposedly to help fight the effects of the virus. Just as Piglosi’s $25 million for the Kennedy Arts Center. It was a golden opportunity to wow Vermont and what he did for them. This is how he gets elected. It’s using OPM (other people’s money) for his own use. Otherwise, what has he really done? Oh es there was the EB-5 situation where people got shaken out of mega bucks, the ski areas went belly up and Leaky slid down the slopes and vanished. He promoted the project. Another snake oil salesman.

He’ll leave the Senate sometime, and the time is getting closer. There’ll be another person that if the right person could do more than Leaky.
