Bernie calls for $2,000 per month for every ‘working class’ American

Senator and possible Labor Secretary Bernie Sanders has upped the ante on proposed stimulus payments for all Americans: he now wants the government to pay $2,000 every month for every working class American.

Sanders tweeted the comments Thursday night: “The pandemic is surging, and tens of millions of Americans are facing economic devastation. The Senate needs to pass a real stimulus package NOW that provides $2,000 a month to the working class, $600 a week to the unemployed and expands Medicare to all.”

When Congress returns to work next week, it will attempt to resolve differences between Senate Pres. Mitch McConnell’s $500 billion stimulus package and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s $2.2 trillion plan. McConnell’s plan has no one-time stimulus funding, while Pelosi’s would deliver another $1,200 to every American. Sanders’ plan would far outstrip even Pelosi’s. His tweet does not specify how the monthly $2,000 benefit would be funded.

Some of Sanders’ Twitter followers pushed back:

  • “Plenty of nations are still afloat despite the pandemic “surging” and without adopting communist redistribution policies, causing goods prices to skyrocket, as you are suggesting. In some nations this surge is leveling off anyways.”
  • “Last time we gave $600 a week on top of the standard unemployment rate, most out of work folks I know ended up making MORE than they were while working. Meanwhile the rest of us working shlubs were left out to dry. How does that make sense?”

Sanders on Thursday also took a twittershot at the Trump administration: “Instead of fighting to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed over 242,000 Americans, the Trump administration is spending its final days in office fighting a bogus voter “fraud” problem that does not exist. Pathetic. The Biden-Harris Administration cannot come soon enough.”

  1. I remember when BO was elected, a FL young female said she’d get a free car, free gas and many other free stuff. Wonder if her bubble burst.

If people get $2K a month, do they need health care? Socialist pie in the sky. Socialists don’t pay, people do., The Bern should go back to his Brooklyn dirt floor living quarters and donate his 3 expensive properties to charity. In Gov, people don’t feel like Americans and lose all common sense. \

The saying is true for Libs “I want what you have, I want what I have”.

  2. That money should come out of the tax free foundations of each politician.
That way they put their own money where their mouth is.

No more using/usurping/extracting of other people’s money

  3. Although he was defeated in the Democrat Presidential primary while running on platform of “free stuff” for everyone. A platform so bad that even the Democrats rejected him and went with Joe Biden. Nope, Bernie has not learned his lesson.

Over his nearly 30 years in Washington, Bernie has presided over a rise in the national debt to more than $27 trillion and growing. A number so large that it is incomprehensible to most of us. So here’s another way of looking at the nation’s debt: It amounts to $82,000 for every man, woman and child in the country; or $328,000 for a family of four.

There is no practical way of paying this debt down in any of our life times, yet Bernie wants to run the national debt even higher with more of his “free stuff”.

By his age, Bernie should have learned that there is no free lunch, no free health care, no free college or no free money……….But with his latest give away proposal, he has shown that he hasn’t learned.

    • Given Bernie’s age he won’t be around long enough for the national debt to be his problem. I’m not sure the Marxists, like Antifa/BLM, don’t just get their thrills wreaking havoc and destroying nations. They’re the best argument I can see for the existence of malicious extraterrestrials masquerading as humans.

    • Don’t forget The wicked witch from CA Piglosi wants 3 trillion to bail out all Liberal cities deep in debt that encourage / maintained riots. If Trump is displaced via fraud, without stopping such a financial farce, the debt increases without any truisms and regard.

Preparation for the next election should start NOW. It’s only 1-1/2 years away, given 6 months for soap box crapology. Reps need to continually apply truisms and reality. Establish a financial environment, both locally and national.

      • I won’t be holding my breath for ” Reps need to continually apply truisms and reality. Establish a financial environment, both locally and national.”
Caving to whatever the Democrats and the Media consider “bi-partisanship” is their go to plan after offering lip-service to the people that put them in office.
It has always been a minority of Republicans that are willing to put themselves out there to actually fight for conservative principals, ideals, and methods. Most just go along to get along, avoiding any and all controversy lest they lose there place at the public trough, wheeling and dealing in secret to enrich themselves and their posterity.

        • Phil,
Socialists get ahead by running government.

Even poor-mouthing Bernie got to be a multi-millionaire, with his own tax-free foundation.

Biden has a foundation to fight cancer, but 75% of its $4 million was paid in salaries and nothing was given out to do cancer research. Beau must be upset at this.

Capitalists get ahead by running private companies

          • Willem:

Your comment makes me think of Aesop’s “The Grasshopper and the Ant”………..A fable and its lesson that should be taught starting in pre-school today, if our children and society are to exist and prosper tomorrow.

Aesop was on target nearly 2700 years ago when he wrote about the importance of hard work, perseverance and responsibility……A lesson that seems to have been lost on Bernie Sanders and his followers.

Aesop knew there was no “free stuff” for all and wisely told us so in his fable. It is hard work and responsibility that is required by all and the not “free stuff” that Bernie offers as a panacea.

Time for all parents and grandparents to tell the kids about the “Grasshopper and the Ant”………The schools aren’t doing it.
