Vermont’s Progressives are very fond of minimum wage laws, but as with many economic initiatives that yield unintended consequences, government control of wages is not as simple as “let’s help the little guy.”
Questions were raised about whether the Newport coronavirus outbreak could have been caused by mouth-to-mouth transfers of synthetic narcotics prescribed to prisoners but then used as “currency” with fellow inmates. Media and other biases are evident in the way in which these issues are addressed.
Net metering costs are passed through to ratepayers, many of whom cannot afford or do not support solar power. This is not only unethical, but unconstitutional. More Vermonters must understand why their electricity rates are so high — and so unfair.
So much for Martin Luther King. Allocating money based on skin color is racism. Rewarding loans to newly-arrived blacks to sell drugs as “reparation” for the drug war is a whole new reefer madness.
The state of Vermont has no incentive to reduce spending or be accountable for wasted millions, and so it only grows bigger, seeking ever more revenue to feed its expansive programs.
Conservatives must lead Vermont in initiatives supporting regenerative agriculture and small, local farms. This is an imperative to benefit Vermont’s economy, craft a sensible environmental policy to present to voters, and expose the multiple problems with progressive “initiatives” in renewable energy.
S.117 is simply unnecessary for anything other than nefarious purposes. Since there is no scientific evidence suggesting the vaccine prevents those who receive it from carrying COVID to others, there is no rational basis upon which to differentiate between citizens due to immunization status.
The issue is framed as one of starving versus non-starving children. The deeper question is whether infinite unfunded social policies will do much more harm than good for those children, starving all of them at some future point when the bills for profligate spending come due.
Any honest discussion requires two sides, but “social-justice” ideology does not tolerate disagreement, as efforts to exchange opinions on the “race issue” reveal. Those who cannot win an argument in the light of reason, yell.
If COVID becomes more virulent, and eager human guinea-pigs have demonstrated this novel vaccine is safe and actually works, I may line up for shots. I’m not anti-vax, just pro-Constitution.
The Tax Structure Commission was evidently charged with the task of justifying tax increases in the name of “equity.” But as with all these newfangled ideological schemes, there is no concept of economic limitations — let alone equity.
Gov. Phil Scott has repeatedly touted his “buy local” initiative during COVID. There are several problems with this seemingly rosy policy. The scheme is a farce, because the money is not allocated to buying local products — just buying products locally.
