Media revives fears global warming will make maple syrup an ‘extinct’ condiment

It was only under the “extreme” scenario that nitrogen fertilization was unable to offset negative effects of warming. That scenario had temperatures rise about 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century, according to the study’s release.

Roper: Sponsors can’t deny ESSEX carbon tax favors rich over poor

Poor Vermonters stuck with gasoline powered cars, oil burning furnaces, etc., will end up subsidizing the electric bills of their better-off neighbors who can afford Priuses, solar panels, weatherized homes, electric heat pumps and the like.

Puerto Rico weighing bold school choice plan following hurricane devastation

Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello has announced a plan to introduce private school choice options to parents in his territory. This proposal includes charter schools that will be managed by nonprofit organizations, and vouchers so that parents can decide where their children will be educated.

In this week’s Statehouse Headliners, employees for at least 15 Vermont companies  will receive more pay, bonuses or retirement money due to corporate tax savings from the recent federal reform. Also, the carbon tax bill has winners and losers.

Just look at the invasions of liberty under consideration in Montpelier. The House, on a vote of 133-7, has just passed a bill forbidding Vermonters from buying appliances that the State finds to be insufficiently energy efficient.

Ben & Jerry’s loves the carbon tax — ‘cuz they won’t pay it

Miller shared estimates that the ice cream manufacturer would receive over $800,000 in electricity subsides if the ESSEX carbon tax were to become law. This he described as “obviously not insignificant.” True enough.
