Opinion: Independence, not welfare, should be for everyone

I am very aware that there are individuals who are destitute and need help, and I am thankful that I am not one of them. But giving many of these individuals assistance without an expectation of a return is merely enslaving them in the programs.

At what point will Vermonters wake up to the fact that allowing government involvement in health care is a very expensive mistake? It will probably be a while because ratepayers, I suspect, aren’t as angry with the politicians as they are with the insurance companies, and this isn’t really fair.
