The Vermont Climate Council adopts the Vermont Climate Action Plan

The Vermont Climate Council adopted the initial Vermont Climate Action Plan today. The plan will help Vermont meet the emissions reductions requirements outlined in the Global Warming Solutions Act and prepare for the impacts of climate change.

Sununu urged to revive energy efficiency plan

Two weeks ago, the commission voted to reject a three-year energy efficiency plan and slashed funding for energy efficiency programs over the next two years, in a move aimed at providing relief to energy consumers who help fund the program.

Roper: This is what vote fraud in Vermont really looks like

The Brattleboro Reformer is reporting a story of potential voter fraud in regard to a vote on the closing of Windham Elementary School. This case has echoes of one from Victory, Vermont, back in 2017, wherein a number of non-residents participated by absentee ballot in an election for town clerk.

McClaughry: Vermont’s four plans to defeat climate change

The Global Warming Solutions Act created a 23-member Vermont Climate Council to develop a Climate Action Plan strict enough to reduce carbon dioxide emissions 80% over the next 28 years. Vermonters can weigh in on this collection of proposals during the coming legislative session, and on Election Day 2022.

Presumably this mask ordinance was enacted for the protection of the public’s health and safety in Rutland Town. It comes complete with fines for violators that increase with the number of offenses.

Vermont earns big jump in financial transparency score

Vermont is one of only 22 states that scored above 80 on a scale of 100 in Truth in Accounting’s (TIA) latest report on financial transparency. However, the state received two out of 10 points in the category that measures the timing of pension liability reports compared to the state’s annual report.

Did Common Core standards contribute to slide in eighth grade math scores?

An alternative and worrisome correlation is the introduction of Common Core Standards. Released in 2010 and implemented between 2013 and 2015, Common Core Standards are a collection of curriculum and teacher standards, including a national list of topics students should learn in each grade.
