The president signed the bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law. It will have a minimum impact until our elected leaders realize we must address the criminal, not the gun. If you use a firearm or provide the weapon for any unlawful purpose, you should be removed from society for a long time.

More than half of all U.S. consumers live paycheck to paycheck

The LendingClub, a peer-to-peer lending company, reports that 58% of U.S. consumers were living paycheck to paycheck last month, a 4% increase from last year. With inflation rates sitting at a 40-year high, taxpayers continue to struggle financially as the economy begins to slow.

Event: Sailors from the USS Montpelier and USS Vermont to visit July 3 & 4

The sailors’ visit includes a “welcome to Vermont” at the VFW Post 792, a BBQ picnic, and a Vermont Mountaineers baseball game. USS Montpelier sailors will march in the Montpelier parade July 3; the USS Vermont sailors will be marching in the Poultney parade July 4.

Matt Krauss: Shouldn’t Barre have a state senator?
